pink party for a purpose

Thursday was one of those fun days where everything happens just as you hoped and it feels like the universe is properly aligned! I spent most of the day with fellow designer and BFF Jane Speroff — something we don't get to do nearly enough. We visited Kravet's showroom in Stamford, where I found several great rug possibilities for a wonderful client. Thank you Megan and James for your help!

Leaving Kravet, we attended the Shippan Designer Show House, benefiting the Stamford Museum & Nature Center.  Highlights and pictures from that lovely event in my next post.

After all that hard work shopping and ooohing and ahhhing, we headed off to dine at Mitchell's Fish Market in Stamford. The rain had just started, so maybe that kept people away - I can't imagine any other reason to miss this restaurant. The food was lovely and the service was amazing.

Our final stop, in the monsoon, was a party for a purpose at the fabulous gallery of Irwin Feld Design. This converted warehouse building is stunning, as are the mid-century modern pieces which fill it. The lighting alone will make you gasp in delight. If you have never visited, I encourage you to stop in. Irwin and Marcy Feld would be delighted to see you!

The networking party was hosted by New England Home Magazine CT. On hand were Kyle Hoepner and Betsy Kravitz (editor in chief and publisher respectively). Also in attendance, to my utter delight, was Stacy Kunstel, Homes Editor, and tweep. She is officially my first tweet-up (where you meet a twitter friend in real life). I tweeted-up several other twitter friends, including the lovely Marcy Feld. Ladies — my pleasure to meet you IRL!

As October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Felds chose to draw-in a wonderful organization, the Connecticut affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure — Komen CT. Representing Komen CT was Anne Morris, Executive Director, another genuinely sweet lady. She and Jane (a die-hard 3-Day walker for the last 11 years) will be meeting to establish a Race for the Cure in Fairfield County!

Anne Morris & Jane Speroff — instant soul sisters!

Marcy Feld not only pulled off an amazing party, but she and Irwin donated this gorgeous chrome and pink bench (starting bid at $1800) with all proceeds to Komen CT!

The gallery held numerous other pink pieces, so check their website for the latest inventory.  This was a wonderful event from every angle — as celebration of the new magazine's success, as collaboration to benefit a great cause, as networking opportunity to meet fellow industry members and simply as a fun party!

The evening ended with a white knuckle drive home in near-zero visibility — but I was certain nothing could go wrong to mar an amazing day — and nothing did!
