If you've been looking for traditional fabrics with a slightly modern sensibility, something that fits effortlessly into your traditional home, then Parlor Textiles is a terrific option! And amazingly, they are eco-friendly too! Intrigued yet? This company wraps social responsibility in a beautiful package. The fabric itself is a blend of eco-friendly hemp and organic cotton. Made in the United States, their process uses water-based inks, heat and pressure rather than chemicals to print the patterns onto the cloth.
Take a peek at a few of their patterns. Any one would seamlessly work on a wing chair or drapery, with Oriental carpets, in a trad home. Equally lovely in a modern setting, the patterns have an Eastern flavor. Very versatile from a design standpoint!

Not your typical fabric patterns, these beauties from Eskayel let you interpret their meaning, almost like an ink blot test. Is it tie-dye? Batik? Do you care? It's just plain cool!

- setting sun in raspberry on linen

- culebra cubic in blue on linen

- sweetwater in aqua on linen
This is just a small selection of the many interesting fabrics Eskayel offers. Additionally, they feature pillows, baskets and more on their website. An especially fun feature, you can shop their line by color. Enjoy!

Another wonderful experience at Blogfest2011 was the opportunity to listen to internationally acclaimed interior designer Barbara Barry discuss her new collection Indochine for Kravet. Barbara's slides revealed the many inspirations she found during her travels in Asia, particularly in Japan. If you have seen any of her previous fabric collections, you know her fabrics are always gracious, understated and calm. Her personality matches completely! The Asian influence is clearly visible; the palette remains soft and elegant. In addition to fabrics, the collection includes trim, hardware, rugs and believe it or not, her own custom tea blend named Citrine. Barbara in the Kravet showroom, showing the fabrics:
